UCAT + Year 12: How to Prepare Without Burning Out

Most UCAT candidates are also in Year 12. Trying to do both at 100% is how burnout happens. The goal is steady, sustainable practice.

A realistic week

  • School days: 30–45 minutes of focused practice (one subtest).
  • One weekend day: a timed section or a mock plus review.
  • One full rest day every week.

Warning signs to slow down

  • Scores dropping despite more hours
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Dreading practice
💡 If you notice these, take two lighter days. Talking to someone you trust — family, a teacher or a school counsellor — genuinely helps.
