Beat the Clock: A Timing & Flagging System for Every UCAT Subtest

The UCAT is designed so that most people do not finish comfortably. That means your pacing system is as important as your knowledge.

The 3-step rule

  1. Answer if you can in your target time.
  2. Guess and flag if you are stuck — pick your best option so it is not blank.
  3. Return to flagged questions only once you reach the end.

Checkpoints

Divide each subtest into quarters. At each quarter of the time, you should be about a quarter of the way through the questions. If you are behind, speed up now — not in the last minute.

ℹ️ There is no penalty for wrong answers in the UCAT, so a blank answer is always a lost mark.
💡 AstraScholar's simulator runs each subtest with real timings so you can practise your checkpoints.
