Courses that use UCAT ANZ

  • Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (Direct entry)

How Monash uses your UCAT ANZ score

  1. All domestic applicants must sit UCAT ANZ in the year before entry.
  2. In the December interview round, interview offers are based on the UCAT ANZ total score only.
  3. In the January interview round, interview offers are based on an equal mix of ATAR aggregate and UCAT ANZ total.
  4. Final selection weighs three parts equally: ATAR aggregate (including adjustment factors), UCAT ANZ total score and the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI).

Good to know

  • The MMI has six stations and is held online.
  • The minimum ATAR is 90, but successful applicants usually score much higher.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants have a separate pathway with a panel interview instead of the MMI and UCAT ANZ.

What UCAT ANZ score should you aim for?

Universities do not set a single pass mark: they rank applicants against each other, so the score you need depends on the year and on how strong the other applicants are. For a competitive course, aiming for the top 10–20% of candidates is a sensible target.

In 2025, the top 20% of UCAT ANZ candidates scored about 2190 or more out of 2700, and the top 10% about 2310 or more. Use the score calculator to see where your practice scores sit.

Before you apply

  • Read the official admissions page: Monash University — entry requirements.
  • Check the prerequisite subjects and the minimum ATAR (or equivalent) for your year of entry.
  • Note every deadline: UCAT ANZ registration, the university or admissions-centre application, and any separate interview booking.
  • Look for rural, Indigenous and other special entry pathways that may apply to you.
ℹ️ Entry rules change each year. Always confirm the details on Monash University's website and the official UCAT ANZ website before you apply.
