How UQ uses your UCAT ANZ score
- Medicine: you need an adjusted ATAR of at least 95 and a competitive UCAT ANZ score from the year you apply.
- Medicine: interview invitations are based on your UCAT ANZ score. UQ has said it will update applicants on exactly how the score is calculated after the recent UCAT changes.
- Medicine: shortlisted applicants attend a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI).
- Dental Science: applicants are ranked on their UCAT ANZ aggregate score from the year they apply, with set sections used to break ties.
- Dental Science: UQ lists a minimum ATAR of 99.0, with English and Chemistry as prerequisites.
Good to know
- Medicine provisional entrants complete a first degree at UQ with a GPA of at least 5.0 (out of 7) before starting the MD.
- There are separate pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. For Dental Science they do not need to sit UCAT ANZ.
What UCAT ANZ score should you aim for?
Universities do not set a single pass mark: they rank applicants against each other, so the score you need depends on the year and on how strong the other applicants are. For a competitive course, aiming for the top 10–20% of candidates is a sensible target.
In 2025, the top 20% of UCAT ANZ candidates scored about 2190 or more out of 2700, and the top 10% about 2310 or more. Use the score calculator to see where your practice scores sit.
